Apple Cottage Self Catering Accommodation

Bladnoch, Wigtownshire

Apple Cottage, named after its garden, which is full of Apple trees, is located in the Distillery village of Bladnoch, situated in the heart of the Wigtownshire Machars in South West Scotland.

The self catering holiday cottage is full of character and is deceptively large. It has three bedrooms, two upstairs and one downstairs, along with a lounge with log burner, TV hall, large dining kitchen with log burner, sunroom onto the garden. It has an upstairs shower room and a downstairs bathroom with separate shower. It also has an extensive fully enclosed mature garden with boules pitch.

Facilities

The bedrooms consist of two doubles and a twin. One of the doubles is downstairs.

The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, cooker, gas hob, dishwasher and other modern appliances.

Outside it has a huge rear garden and I mean huge, which is full of Apple trees and character. Feel free to bring your gardening gloves and do some gardening. You’ll not be short of fruit to eat during the harvesting months. There is also an abundance of spearmint.

At the front the cottage is directly onto the pavement, however, across the road is a field and the River Bladnoch for fishing, remember to get a permit.

Location

Bladnoch is famed for having the southmost distillery in Scotland. An absolute necessity for any whisky lover to visit. The distillery has a visitor centre, shop and cafe.

We also have the Bladnoch Inn for food and drink, which is at the end of the village next to the Bladnoch Bridge.

Local amenities can be found in Wigtown which is walking distance from the cottage or either a short bus or car trip away. Wigtown is famous for its bookshops and annual book festival in September.

Nearby there is the Crook of Baldoon RSPB Nature reserve, Baldoon RAF Airport (disused) with lots of WW2 pill boxes and buildings hidden away. Torhouse Standing Stones, Whithorn Priory, St.Ninnian’s Cave, Kirroughtree Seven Stanes Mountainbiking, The Wigtown Martyrs Stone, to name but a few places of interest.

Wigtownshire and the Machars is also famed for its beautiful beaches of Luce Bay, Monreith in particular. It is also part of the Dark Skies.
